I skipped a couple of days for lack of cell service. I will fill in later. but first a brief update: the Alaska Highway turns into serious wilderness, just the highway and boreal forest, starting soon after it starts. The farms and oil infrastructure give way to just oil infrastructure and eventually even the utility lines along the highway end. Just you and the road and the forest for hundreds of km.
Yesterday I picked up a hitchhiker, a young scientist who just finished a MS program. More later…
Today we crossed into Yukon (picture later) and visited the signpost forest. Over 130.00 signs!

My car battery died but good thing I brought jumper cables! I found someone to jump it…
Wes topped for two disabled vehicles. None of them needed food water or satellite communications from me. One party had been waiting for 2 days in their RV for their mechanic. It pays to drive carefully on these roads, not overload things, and not break any axels.
My passenger and I had plenty of good conversation. And we saw a beautiful waterfall as well.
This place looks and feels like Alaska, it makes me realize that yes, I am almost to my new home. I’m staying near Whitehorse tonight.
